History of the Renton Farmers Market
The Renton Farmer's Market was established in 2002 by a large group of Renton leaders. Research was done, other markets visited and a farmers survey conducted and over a period of 18 months, the Renton Farmers Market (RFM) was created.
Piazza Renton, a volunteer group of approximately 30 people were one of the driving forces behind the formation of the RFM. Piazza Renton was organized about 14 years ago when the City of Renton first began the revitalization of the Downtown area. Piazza Renton's goal was to plan and produce activities at the Park, so when the planning for the Renton Farmer's Market began, Piazza Renton was naturally involved.
Currently, the City of Renton and the Piazza group work together to execute each market. The City of Renton and Piazza hired a Market Coordinator to organize the events and help grow the market to become an even more wonderful event. The Coordinator, The City of Renton and the volunteers of the Piazza Renton group work year round to create an amazing Farmers Market for the community and visitors to Downtown Renton.
